Once again we will be opening our doors for an extra special evening talk to mark Museums at Night 2014.
Following the overwhelming success of Helen Kearney’s Postal Maps talk earlier in the year, we’re collaborating once more with Helen, to offer this captivating event. Get up close to the original maps held in the archive and investigate how the city was divided into districts; establishing the postcode system as we know it today.
In 1856 the London Postal Map was introduced. From providing London with an efficient communications system to supporting reforms that attempted to impose order on a rapidly growing city, the changes it led to were unprecedented.
This talk will be taking place in the Archive Search Room, Freeling House.
