Summer Walk: Impacts Of The Great War

The walk will look at the evidence of the pre-World War One landscape in Shirehampton and the location of the Shirehampton Remount Depot that was established in August 1914 to help supply horses and mules to the Western Front. We will also look at how attitudes before, during and after the war helped to shape the growth of Avonmouth and Shirehampton in the 20s and 30s to create the place we see today. - Sold out
