Figurines in ancient China: from prehistory to the First Emperor

In this lecture Sascha Priewe, British Museum, discusses the evidence for a figurine tradition in ancient China. Beginning with examples from the Neolithic period and the Bronze Age, in which bronze, jade and ceramic figurines often depict imaginary creatures, he will also look at funerary figurines and their most prominent example, the First Emperor’s terracotta army
