During the First World War the arrival of the telegram messenger could be a dark omen; a boy on a red bike feared as a portent of the worst possible news. These deliveries were part of the Post Office duties on the Home Front, but how did the Post Office adapt to these new pressures? This talk will look at the changing attitudes and procedures seen in the Home Front Post Office as its workers adapted to change and continued to do their duty. Children under 12 free.
