Mug

Mug of cylindrical form with loop handle, flaring slightly towards the foot. Decorated in the centre front with transfer print of the Iron Bridge across the Wear. The print is in black and heightened with red and green. Inscribed beneath 'A West View of the Iron Bridge over the Wear under the patronage of R. Burdon Esq., M. P.' beneath which is written 'S pan 230 feet, height 100 feet, Dixon & Co., Sunderland 1813'. Cast 214 tons weight 48 tons'. The remainder of the surface is decorated with irregular trails of pink lustre. The inside of the mug is modelled with a frog. Size: Height: 12.5 cm.
