Gosudarstvennaya Tretyâkovskaya Galereya

The State Tretyakov gallery possesses a unique collection of Russian art which includes masterpieces created for more than a thousand years. The Gallery was founded by a Russian merchant and maecenas Pavel Tretyakov. He donated his collection to the city of Moscow in 1892. The State Tretyakov gallery has since become a world-famous museum. Nowadays it contains more than 170 000 works by Russian artists from the early religious paintings to the modern art objects. The State Tretyakov Gallery is the All-Russian Museum Corporation and consists of several buildings: - State Tretyakov Gallery in Lavrushinsky Lane, 10 (early Russian art and Russian painting, graphic art and sculpture until the 20th century). - State Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val, 10 (Russian art of the 20th century, modern art and temporary exhibitions). - “Engineering Wing” in Lavrushinsky Lane, 12 (Temporary exhibitions). - Exhibition Hall in Maly Tolmachevsky Lane, 6 (building 1) (Temporary exhibitions). - Museum Church of St Nicholas in Bolshoy Tolmachevsky Lane. - Memorial Studio of the Sculptor Anna Golubkina - Memorial Flat of Apollinary Vasnetsov - House-Museum of Victor Vasnetsov - House-Museum of Pavel Korin
