The Royal Yacht Britannia

Tripadvisor’s No.1 UK Attraction 2023-24 and Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Best of the Best award winner

The Royal Yacht Britannia was home to Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family for over 40 years, sailing a million miles around the world. Now you can experience this famous ship which was rated Best UK Attraction by Which magazine readers and has consistently been judged Scotland's Best Visitor Attraction by national tourism agency, VisitScotland, for thirteen years running.

Follow in the footsteps of Royalty to discover what made Britannia so special to all who knew her. Explore the Visitor Centre and the Royal Yacht’s five decks with the fascinating complimentary audio tour, available in over 30 languages plus British Sign Language tablet, Braille script and a children’s version. You can now listen to the tour on an audio guide or through your smartphone.

See where the young princes, William and Harry, spent their summer holidays. Where kings and queens, world leaders and celebrities were entertained, from Frank Sinatra and Liz Taylor to Presidents Mandela and Clinton.

Enjoy stunning waterfront views in our Royal Deck Tea Room. Sample our speciality teas and coffees, delicious home-made soups, sandwiches and scones, served by our waiters and all made on board in the original Royal Galley.

Britannia’s five main decks are open for you to explore at your own pace. They are accessible for wheelchair users, single buggies and those with limited mobility.

Please check the Britannia website for full opening times and prices.

The Royal Yacht Britannia is scheduled to be closed 4, 5 & 6 November for planned building works beyond our control.
