Buried History

Visitors embark on a thrilling journey through time that with a display of exceptional original finds takes them from the Stone Age via the Bronze and Iron Age up to the Roman Era and into the early Middle Ages. The exhibition presents the "Buried History" revealed by the archaeological excavations. Visitors encounter the fascinating world of early humans and stand before what may be the oldest arch in the world. They discover innovative techniques of metal processing that changed societies at the Rhine and Neckar in the three millennia BC. They stroll along a Roman road flanked by tombstones and steles and explore the Roman way of life. Exotic trade goods show how strongly the region was influenced by its Roman heritage.
