The World of Medals

The world of medals is exhibited in Η. Schliemann’s winter office. Since the Renaissance, the need to depict on the small metallic surface the recollection of a person or an event, thus promoting them, had been developed into an advanced form of art. Historical events, rulers, personalities, buildings, cities, regions are portrayed on medals of later times in accordance with the various artistic movements.
