Hans Weigand. Surfing

From June, the upper floor of the 21er Haus will be dedicated to Austrian artist Hans Weigand. Born in 1954 in Tyrol, Weigand will be presenting some of his more typical works in dialogue with new productions as an invitation to rummage through the artist’s world: a documentary of his cooperations, historic photo-material, utopian oversize-screens, crazy music videos, original footage of his performances and concerts etc.

For the rest of the show, Weigand is creating an exhibition landscape in reference both to the special architectural structure of the location as well as to wood sourced from a building contractor. Weigand proved his preference for this typical material already during the performance Demon Brothers, where he arranged two persons to perform a traditional Tyrolean custom wearing costumes made of Swiss pine: tradition, material and the present are fused into an interactive piece of art.

The close cooperation between artist Hans Weigand and curator Mario Codognato adds a special suspense factor to the summer exhibition.
