A fragment of a Greco Roman period coffin. This may be from the same coffin as the pink fragment downstairs. The pink colouring suggests the rising sun and so represents rebirth. You can see Osiris wearing a feathered garment sitting on a feathered throne. To the right the lily and papyrus are intertwined representing the unity of upper and lower Egypt.

Painted wooden panel of seated figure (Osiris) with crook and flail. Osiris wears a feathered garment and his chair is also feathered. The lotus and papyrus are placed behind him as is wadjyt, the cobra goddess of lower Egypt. No. 6865 written on bottom. The pink colouring is quite typical of later funerary items and is said to represent the rising sun. On the right you can see the lily and papyrus intertwined representing the unity of upper and lower Egypt. 1042 and W1042a possibly belong to the same coffin. Greco Roman.
