Asiatic. This probably comes from a piece of furniture. Such items occur on royal furniture so it is probably from Thebes. Egyptian kings depicted their power over foreign peoples through 'decoration' on such items as furniture.

Painted wooden figure of an Asiatic facing left. No arms. Old number on base 914 on square serrated label, 477 on circular label, and 7. Painted red and black. 270mm high. That such figures only occur on royal furniture suggests a Theban connection. Purchased by Wellcome from the Rustafjaell collection in 1906.
