This piece of bronze would have been used to help secure a chariot wheel to the vehicle's axle; it is the equivalent of a car's wheel nut. Originally it would have been decorated with brightly coloured enamel. See 234/2003 for a complete replica. - Iron Age (800 BC-43 AD) -
