Octagonal handscreen, the frame and curved hande being of wood, which is laquered in gloss black, decorated with floral motifs in gold paint, the handle tip holding an emerald green strip of silk, hung with a spherical, glass bead. The screen itself is of cream/grey silk, painted with three figures, and embroidered with flowers in red, coral, gold, cerise, purple, green and blue. Possibly from China or Japan.
