A small wooden hook of which at least six were found in the lounge site.
It has been suggested that the most likely use for these hooks was to pull or drag the sleds that were used to remove the corves (baskets) of coal from the mine. The hooks were probably looped around the upright post on the sled before they were dragged along the mine tunnels.
The hooks have a handle that sits at right angles to the shaft. They have been carved from wood chosen specially with a branch at the right point to help form this style of hook.
