Dressed in her winter outfit of a green overcoat with matching bonnet, both trimmed in white fur and silk ribbon, she was made by Kammer and Reinhardt in Germany at the start of the 20th century and given to a little girl in Castle Donnington.
She has under clothes consisting of a white cotton dress with a lace edged petticoat, white pantaloons to the ankles with knitted socks and black leather shoes. And for the night time she has her own nightdress in cream cotton with a lace trimmed collar.
Although elaborate and expensive, this doll would have been played with, providing the little owner with a way of perfecting her needlework skills and learning the importance and substance of fashion in the early 20th century.
