Handkerchief, fine white cottons square with Bedfordshire. Lace forms a scalloped edge with larger design including wheat ears, at corners, where the square has been cut away. Paper label sewn to one corner with printed picture of lace-maker and the words "Home-made lace - this lace is made at home by the village women in the same way as it used to be done in Queen Catherine of Aragon's time - when tradition says introduced the industry into England in 1500." Written in pencil "Crescent Design".
