Pair of Pot-Pourri Vases and Covers, Chelsea, 1760-65
Ogee shape with the necks pierced with May blossom. Decorated with a claret ground with reserves on one side of finely painted interior genre scenes from prints after paintings by Chardin. The subjects are: The morning 'toilette' and 'The Diligent Mother'. Probably painted by John Donaldson. The reverse is gilded with exotic birds in landscape.
Mark: Gold anchor to both.
