Mawer And Saunders Ironmongers, after 1910 (original image) (Ref:M.H1.1993.23.0)
Mawer and Saunders was an ironmongery business selling hardware. They traded from the turn of the twentieth century and closed in the 1990s. Note the Edwardian ladies formal costume and the old currency used in the display on the shop window and on the advertisement for roofing sheets. This two-story shop became Chinatown, half way up the High Street and on the corner of Church Street, but is now closed and empty.
