Description: Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks and linen thread in satin, cross, eyelet, double running and double hemstitch. There is some cut and drawn work with needle lace and holliepoint filling stitches. All the edges are turned under and hem stitched. The sampler comprises 16 horizontal bands of repeat border patterns, four alphabets, numerals and the inscription 'RACheL HIAtt MAde this SAMPPLer / IN the FourteeNth Year OF her AGe/ ANd IN the YeAR 1697'.
