Description: Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, chain, eyelet, Algerian eye, satin and double running stitch. All the sides are turned under and stitched. the sampler comprises of horizontal bands of repeat border patterns, three alphabets, numerals and the inscription ' SchOOLS ARe the SeeDPLOtS OF ALL/LeARNeD ARtS AND DOth eNRICH/ OUR heADS OUR tONGUeS OUR heARtS' and "ELIZABeth EYLS" & "2 Nov- 6 Feb 1695'.
