Lower palaeolithic handaxe. This is probably the oldest object in the Museum collection. It may be 1 million years old. The youngest it could be would be 150,000 BC. Our ancestors made stone tools the same way for over 900,000 years! This handaxe was probably used for chopping up meat or scraping skins. From Armant.
