Pair of Vases and Covers, Chelsea, 1760-65
Oviform shape with a trumpet neck. Decorated with a claret ground with reserves on one side of biblical scenes from prints after paintings by de Troy. The subjects are 'Susanna and the Two Elders' and 'King David and Bathsheba'. The reverse is gilded with exotic birds in landscape.
Mark: Gold anchor to one vase.
