Excavating to understand the origins of our culture
In the Archaeology room visitors can wander through five thousand years of archaeological traces of human presence in the minicipality, entering a darker and more mysterious dimension that appeals to the senses by recreating monuments, sites and places on a real scale, taking us to past events. The whole experience is enhanced by the acoustic environment. This room is not only remarkable for the bold and original way some of the pieces are exhibited, but also for the important part played by archaelogists and their work, in telling us about the past.
We move from the surface of the territory to deeper layers which reveal the life and death of our ancestors. The science of archaeology is presented here as an experience of discovery which is also great fun.
On the basis of the reconstrution of an archaeological site, which we can see through a glass floor, time is speeded up, from the earliest examples of megalithic art up to the Roman occupation, by way of the Bronze age and fortification culture.
