The Revd. W Awry was the well know author of the Railway Series of children's books, based on the railways of the fictious island of Sodor. Thes included the standard gauge railway, home of Thomas the Tank Engine, and the narrow Gauge Skarloey Railway, which was loosely based on the Talyllyn.
The Revd. Awdry joined the Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society at the time of its formation in 1950, and worked for many years as a guard.
The museum contains a recreation of the author's study, with many of the contents from the original. Visitors can also listen to recordings of many of his stories.
