The 'Domschatzkammer' (cathedral treasure chamber) in Essen can show you during your city break that the Ruhr Area has even more to offer than industrial heritage.
The treasures in Essen's cathedral bear witness to more than 1,000 years of history, art and ecclesiastical life in the Ruhr metropolis. Since the diocese of Essen was founded on 1 January 1958, the "Münster am Hellweg" site has been the bishop's own church, and as such a cathedral.
