Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is a vibrant and inspiring free art space for everyone and provides a place for historical, modern and contemporary art exhibitions, talks, lectures and conferences, live music, performance and events in the heart of Swansea’s bustling artistic quarter.
It reopened in October 2016 following a major redevelopment to transform and conserve the Gallery’s original 1911 Grade II* listed building providing a fully accessible, welcoming, refreshed 21st century visitor experience.
New galleries have been added, alongside expert conservation studios and collection store, a dedicated 80 seater lecture theatre, a library and archive centre and a new Café and Gallery shop.
The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery (founded in 1911) has developed a significant Collection covering a broad spectrum of the visuals arts from old masters to contemporary artists, with an international collection of porcelain and Swansea china.
The dynamic Exhibitions programme hosts national and international touring exhibitions of major contemporary artists and art historical shows. The Gallery also provides a platform for artists based in Wales to present their work in a local national and international context.
The award winning Learning team help to create a friendly, supportive atmosphere in which people of all ages are able to develop an understanding of the world of art, alongside an exciting community interpretation programme of talks, tours, lectures and events.
Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is part of the City and County of Swansea and is supported by the Arts Council of Wales.
Glynn Vivian is a partner of Tate, and exchanges programmes, ideas and skills with the Plus Tate network of visual arts organisations across the UK.
