Gladbeck City Museum

Museum der Stadt Gladbeck

The museum of the city of Gladbeck is situated in the historic manor house and gatehouse of the moated castle Wittringen (Freizeitstätte Wittringen).

With over 400 square meters of exhibition space and impressive exhibits, scenic installations and audiovisual media, the permanent exhibition uses Gladbeck as an example to illustrate the spatial and historical development of the northern Ruhr Area.

The remarkable objects include the skeleton of a wood bison, burial urns from the Late Bronze Age, medieval documents and farming tools as well as exhibits from the history of mining and modern urban and settlement history.

The history of National Socialism in the area is also thematized, as is the period since 1945.

The restaurant "Wasserschloss Wittringen" is right next to the museum.

Admission is free.

There is a free parking space on Bohmertstraße, approx. 350m away.
