“The abstract artist has to build from a simple but objective centre until he finds a subjective circumference.” - Victor Pasmore.
To understand Victor Pasmore (1908-1995) - his art, his vision, his relevance today - we must necessarily work our way back to the centre from the 'subjective circumference' which we are faced with today.
The gallery is not just about viewing Pasmore's work, but is an encounter of sorts. Through the works themselves, gallery talks, workshops and several events taking place throughout the year, we hope to provide you with a fresh sense of artistic discovery...because, ultimately, it was this sense of discovery which put Pasmore on a continuous path of creative development, which practically spanned an entire century. We're seeking to extend that time-span a little more.
The Victor Pasmore Gallery was initially set up by the Victor Pasmore Foundation in collaboration with the Central Bank of Malta in November 2014, and is currently being managed by Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti.
