The Museum of Greek Children’s Art is a pioneering Museum, one of the very few worldwide that exhibits exclusively drawings and three dimensional artworks created by children 5 to 14 years old.
The Museum presents exhibitions that are regularly renewed.
The billingual interactive section of every exhibition, offers the possibility for visitors f all ages to enjoy games, fairytales and books, which help to approach the exhibits in a more stimulating way.
Current three exhibitions aim, through Art 1. to familiarize children with their rights as they are mentioned at the Convention on Children’s Rights as well as 2. to increase consideration and develop critical thinking in order to accept the diversity of the Other and 3. to learn about the work of the famous Greek painter Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas.
Based upon the exhibitions, educational programs for pre-school and primary school pupils are held every day at the Museum’s premises. Every year, 7.000 children participate in the school educational programs, while Museum-Kits are loaned to almost 70 relative institutes in the region. On weekends and holidays the Museum organizes art workshops for children 5-12 years old on a 8 month basis or as on one off. For preschool children, 2,5-4 years old, the Museum runs family art workshops. All programmes and art workshops are presented in Greek, by the Museum’s staff, specially educated in all relative fields.
The Museum has a gift shop offering various editions and "unique" small art objects inspired by artworks of its collections. All benefit contributes to the Museum’s daily function.
