Jewish Museum in Stockholm

Judiska Museet i Stockholm

The Jewish Museum in Stockholm is located in Sweden’s oldest preserved synagogue at Själagårdsgatan 19 in the Old Town in Stockholm. Much of the synagogue’s original interior is intact, including ornamented Bimah pillars and wall paintings hidden under new layers of paint. The museum's permanent exhibition weaves together the history of Sweden’s Jews and their quest to find a place for Jewish thought and practice in a new country.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the Jewish Museum showcases temporary exhibitions incorporating past and present Jewish art, history and practice.
