Epworth Old Rectory

Epworth Old Rectory was the childhood home of John and Charles Wesley. This was where they and their siblings received their earliest education and inspiration from their father, the Rector, Samuel Wesley and their remarkable mother Susanna Wesley.
The house was built in 1709 to replace the previous rectory which burned to the ground and from which John Wesley was famously rescued.
Today visitors are guided around the house and hear the stories of the Wesley family and learn about their impact and inspiration. Period furniture and displays bring the house to life. The main fireplaces have been recently restored.
Open from March to October Tuesdays to Saturdays. Note opening times are shorter in March, April and October. See website for details : www.epwortholdrectroy.org.uk
