Created by Chinese artist Zhang Yanzi, ‘A Quest for Healing’ is the newest temporary exhibition that will be opening at Surgeons’ Hall Museums this April. Through diverse materials, the exhibition explores the themes of healing, energy and human existence from both a Chinese and a universal perspective.
Zhang Yanzi spent time in Edinburgh during the summer of 2017 and was inspired by both the collection at Surgeons’ Hall Museum and The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Zhang Yanzi’s works have been exhibited widely nationally and internationally and her work ‘The Remedy’ was awarded Best Artwork of 2013 LuXun Culture Award. There will also be an exhibition shown simultaneously at the Museum of East Asian Art in Bath entitled “A Quest for Wellness: Contemporary Chinese Art by Zhang Yanzi.”
The exhibition will run at Surgeons’ Hall Museum from the 27th of April until the 4th of November, 2018. The exhibition is included in the price of museum entry. There will be a series of events programmed around the event, details of which can be found on the museums website.
