Illussions – the 65th exhibition of Algis Griškevičius’ paintings, photography and objects.
The exhibition presents the works which were created in 2002 as well as those finished few weeks ago. This is by far the largest and most comprehensive self presentation of the artist in Kaunas. A. Griškevičius’ creation unites the critical evaluation of modern society, actualization of different states and regulations, everything being penetrated with a certain dose of irony and tragicomic perception of the world.
A. Griškevičius skillfully manipulates the reality. His paintings do not involve non-existing objects: they are very close to our surrounding - in cities and abandoned environment, nevertheless the play of colour and light creates the atmosphere that becomes totally inadequate to the reality. It's like two worlds one of which is true and recognizable, and the other reflects the parallel reality coming out of a dreamy and full of fantasy world.
Obviously, the author’s ironic attitude and humour in his works deserve public sympathy and critical evaluation both in Lithuania and abroad.
