On May 17th, 2011 the Haspa-Gallery will open on the second level of the MKG and offer a 75 m2 platform for works by the renowned artists’ association Hamburgische Sezession. Annual exhibitions will present various works from the Haspa’s own collection dating from 1919 to 1933. The Savings Bank is also giving money to finance the care for its long-term loan to the MKG of over 350 paintings, watercolours, prints and drawings and the mounting of the annual display. Since 2002 this loan is at the MKG. Since then it has successively been researched by young curatorial assistants who held the Max-Sauerlandt-Volontariat, which Haspa also funds. Recently the exhibition “Rosa. Eigenartig grün. Rosa Schapire and the Expressionists“ attracted the nation’s attention in 2009. The Haspa-Gallery now offers a permanent space for the works within the museum context.
