THE EXHIBITION "AMONG LINES AND WORDS"

The exhibition "Among lines and words" is dedicated to Gediminas Pempė 95th birth anniversary

Petras Gediminas Pempė (1921–2008) – a master of the applied graphic art has entered with a significant contribution this field of art in Lithuania. During his active creative career which began in the seventh decade of the 20th century he had created lots of book covers and illustrations, trademarks and postage stamps, bookplates, posters, greeting diplomas. Calligraphy was one of the areas most distinctly representing the artist, and for this he is called a font virtuoso. About 270 greeting diplomas for outstanding persons of Lithuania today are scattered all over Lithuania and the world. The calligraphic talent of the artist is fully revealed in all types of his works.

G. Pempė‘s creative legacy has been donated by the artist‘s family to M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art. The exhibition "Among lines and words" aims to reveal the artist‘s versatile creation from his early projects to the latest works. No doubt, each sphere of his creative activity deserves a special exhibition.
