Rosemarie Trockel

Rosemarie Trockel (born 1952) is one of today’s most prominent German artists. Drawings, collages and book drafts play an important role in her comprehensive oeuvre including ceramic objects, videos and installations. Her themes – like the ‘portraits’ of apes or the erotic portrayal of sleeping boys – and the use of unusual techniques – e.g. the usage of a photocopier or the transformation of old paintings into collages – put commonplaces and artistic standards, especially the idea of drawing, into question. In close collaboration with the artist, works from all creative periods were selected and will be complemented by drawings and collages specially made on the occasion of the exhibition.
