REGIONAL ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM – PLOVDIV
Is pleased to Invite You to
VIII International Biennial
“MASTERS OF CARICATURE” 2015
Sheep and Wolves
For the eighth time in a row Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv together with the University of Agribusiness and Rural Development – Plovdiv and the Plovdiv Cartoonists Association organize the already traditional for our city International Biennial “Masters of Caricature”. The topic this year is “Sheep and Wolves”.
In ancient times somewhere between the mountain and the sky the good acquaintances a wolf and a sheep met. Could a caricature tell us more about their meeting? Is the contemporary caricaturist capable of portraying the diversity of relations in this awkward pair? Old Bulgarians would say: “God save you from the wellbeing of a sheep whose well-wisher is wolf.” The wisdom of yore will entwine new mores.
The Eighth International Biennial “Masters of Caricature” – Plovdiv ’2015 features 116 artists from 33 countries with 209 caricatures. Only five of them will be awarded the honorary title Master of Caricature, one will win the Special Prize of the Rector of UARD – Plovdiv and 50 more caricaturists will be included in the catalogue “Masters of Caricature Plovdiv 2015”.
The exhibit of caricatures on the topic “Sheep and Wolves” by artists from all over the world will open in 18:00 on October 1st, 2015 in Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv, 2 Dr. Stoyan Chomakov str.
Students from Musical and Dance Arts Academy – Plovdiv will perform an especially prepared fashion review by Diana Kaneva for the opening of the VIII International Biennial “Masters of Caricature”. The author believes that clothes are not just beautiful body wrapping but also an expression of the character and spiritual life of the person that wears them. The collection reflects the inverted perspective in latest trends in fashion. A different sense for our surroundings illustrated with humour. About women that go through different forms and transformations.
