Aldona Gustas (b. 1932) – a Lithuanian-born writer and artist lives and creates in West Berlin since 1945. She is famous for both – her work and the legendary Berliner Malerpoeten group that she had brought together in 1972. Its members were such famous people as Nobel literature laureate Günter Grass (1999), Friedrich Schröder-Sonnenstern, Kurt Mühlenhaupt and others. The Group artists write and illustrate their own poetry or prose. A. Gustas had illustrated most of her lyrics editions, as well.
The exhibition "I am a part of nature ..." consists of a series of drawings created in 1990-2012. Woman‘s inner world, her free, sensual nature occupies a special place in A. Gustas‘ creation. The artist praises a concept of woman's beauty destroying clichés of the traditional depiction.
The works have been kindly lent to the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art by the Browse Gallery of the Berlin Mühlenhaupt museum.
