Climb up to the Moor

A free touring exhibition at Kirkleatham Museum. This exhibition is a unique experience of moorland, with paintings by Judith Bromley & Robert Nicholls. The exhibition includes informative interpretations of the landscape and personal insights by the artists. The paintings form the main core of the exhibition. The text panels describe the creation of the landscape, the diversity of the upland environment and the importance of its conservation, not least that our peat bogs are more efficient at capturing and storing carbon than the earth's rainforests. Local artists, craftspeople and makers have been invited each to make a small piece, in their own medium and style, inspired by the moorland floor, to make a group installation: Ground Cover. Schools and other groups have also contributed their creations, adding to this innovative expanding artwork. As the exhibition travels from one venue to another Ground Cover has grown as other artists, makers, groups, children and families have added their own contributions.
