Material Obsessions

Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery celebrates the return of part of its folk art collection from the exhibition at Tate Britain and COmpton Verney Art Gallery.

Material Obsessions also showcases other extraordinary but often unsung art from the Museum's diverse folk art colelction.

Highlights include: collages by the eccentric artist George Smart, the tailor of Frant, and a stunningly complex Crimean War quilt made by convalescing soldiers from thousands of pieces of their uniform fabric.
