Exhibition: Wright Inspired

To mark the launch of Derby Museums’ new Joseph Wright Institute, this exhibition presents work by Wright along with a curious collection of paintings known affectionately as the ‘not quite Wrights’. Produced during Wright’s own lifetime, or the two centuries since his death, these rarely seen, and often overlooked, paintings have either been inspired by, or copied directly from, his work. Works by students from Burton College and Derby’s Borrow Wood School add a contemporary element to this exhibition, celebrating Wright’s enduring ability to inspire new generations of budding artists.
