This speical exhibition shares the experiences of retired Caribbean nurses who served in Hackney, Newham and neighbouring areas.
The National Health Service was set up in 1948, in the aftermath of the Second World War and during shortage of labour. The NHS recurited staff for this new service directly from the Caribbean.This dispaly provides an opportunity to hear nurses' stories of commitment, dedication, camaraderie and life-long friendships.
