Gone Fishing

As part of our Gone Fishing project, we are now featuring a brand new exhibition in our Harbour Gallery. "Gone Fishing" launched on Saturday 13th September with specialists from the Lake District Coast Aquarium in Maryport and their interactive touch pools giving visitors the opportunity to get hands on with real life sea creatures. Gone Fishing uses modern photography produced exclusively for this project alongside archive images to tell the story of the changing nature of the West Coast's oldest industry. Also on show is artwork by schoolchildren from the Maryport Extended Schools Partnership. This "Fisherman's Tale" project saw pupils from 12 different schools on the west coast joining together to take part in activities to produce their own artwork on the theme of harbour and fishing heritage.
