Tate Liverpool presents Turner Monet Twombly, an exhibition of paintings by some of the most prolific and well-known artists of the 20th century.
Including over 70 works, our groundbreaking exhibition will display artworks by J.M.W. Turner (1775–1851), Claude Monet (1840–1926) and Cy Twombly (b.1928) and explore the similarities between these artists in style, subject and artistic motivation.
Turner’s compelling, atmospheric works will be exhibited alongside the beautiful and emotive art of Monet, whilst Twombly’s original contemporary style adds a fresh and exciting dimension to the exhibition. Highlights will include some of Monet’s fabulous Water Lilies and Turner’s much loved romantic landscapes. Twombly’s recent paintings of blooms will also be displayed, shown in the UK for the first time.
For those already familiar with the artists’ work, this exhibition will be a revelation; for new audiences, it is a fascinating introduction.
The exhibition is organised by Moderna Museet, Stockholm in collaboration with Tate Liverpool and Staatsgalerie Stuttgart.
