Božidar Dolenc (1950-2008) Self-portraits 1976-2004 Photos

A total of 150 photographs displayed at the commemorative exhibition come from principal series of self-portraits mostly depicting Božidar Dolenc in movement.

Božidar Dolenc
was born on 10 April 1950 in Ljubljana. He was a chemical technician by profession, but he took up photography in 1978 and started working as a freelance artist in 1984. He was a member of several photography-related clubs, including Foto-kino klub LEK, Foto grupa Šolt and the association DPD Svoboda Bežigrad, and joined the Designers Society of Slovenia in 1984. Dolenc was among the initiators of Fotografija, a magazine on photography. He worked as its editor-in-chief from 1997 to 1998 and later on acted as a member of its editorial board. He took part in a number of international photography workshops and symposia. Dolenc captured Slovene photographers and other artists on film, documented cultural events and photographed pieces of art. He lived in Ljubljana, where he died on 16 December 2008.
