Thursday 5th June – Wednesday 25th June
In order to mark the 450th Anniversary of the birth of Shakespeare, in 2014 members of CGA will be presenting their impressions, in fine art form, of the Bard's rich and challenging written output.
In this exhibition, members of the Cheltenham Group of Artists will explore the many themes embodied in Shakespeare's work such as love, despair, tragedy, ambition and greed. Sources of interest for the art include the spectacular and the supernatural; humour and romance; contrasts of personalities and suspense; dramatic situations and dramatic ironies; fate and Nemesis; philosophies and there are quotations that we ourselves use in today's “everyday” speech. Throughout 2014 there are to be a wide range of national and International programmes and projects celebrating the 450th Anniversary of Shakespeare's birth.
