This exhibition of paintings and etchings is inspired by buried relics from archaeological finds, with a contemporary twist. Susan is continually influenced by the idea of discovery of surviving traces and remains of lost, decayed, buried artefacts from archaeological explorations. Her inspiration is also drawn from a love of timeless shapes and forms and the decorative qualities of their pattern and ornament. Susan Gradwell studied at St. Martin’s School of Art (BA) and the Central school of Art (MA), London, before moving to the West Country in 1980, where she has continued to live and work. She is a member of the Bath Society of Artists, Spike Print Studio and Somerset Printmakers.
