TO LIVE WITH FORESTS. Forest Management Region Kočevje.

The exhibition and its accompanying publication have been prepared in collaboration with numerous institutions, firms, societies and individuals from the sphere of forestry within the Forest Management Region Kočevje. The texts have been contributed by foresters of the Slovenia Forest Service, Regional Unit Kočevje, and Gozdarstvo Grča, d.d., Kočevje.


The significance and role of the forests are revealed to the visitors with the aid of panels, various implements, ambiental set-ups, large photo blow-ups, background scores and films about forests. The natural characteristics of the Kočevsko region, the history of forestry and enterprises closely associated with forests are also presented. A special emphasis is given to the nature conservation aspect of forests and virgin forests.


With its bilingual exhibition, the Regional Museum Kočevje was the first in Slovenia to participate in the International Year of Forests 2011, proclaimed under the motto Forests for People by the United Nations' General Assembly.
