When Ice Came to London

When Victoria came to the throne in 1837, ice was the preserve of the aristocracy. By the time she died it was almost ubiquitous – used in food storage, in hospitals, and for ice cream production, enjoyed by all levels of society. This exhibition is the story of how this came about.
